Wizkid & Davido Take Home Wins at 2025 NAACP Image Awards
Afrobeats Continues to Shine as Wizkid and Davido Win Big at the NAACP Image Awards

Afrobeats isn’t just crossing borders—it’s taking over! Nigerians are winning back-to-back, and the 56th NAACP Image Awards proved it once again. This prestigious award, organized by the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) in the U.S., celebrates outstanding talent in film, TV, theatre, music, and literature.
At this year’s event, Wizkid bagged the award for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration (Contemporary) with his song “Piece of My Heart” featuring Brent Faiyaz. The track is from his latest album, “Morayo”, his sixth studio project. Morayo, which means “I See Joy” in Yoruba, holds deep meaning for the singer as it follows the passing of his mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, last year. Through the album, Wizkid pays tribute to her while embracing love and life.
Meanwhile, Davido won Outstanding International Song for “Hmmm”, his collaboration with Chris Brown. The duo has a strong musical history, previously teaming up on hits like “Blow My Mind” and “Sensational”.
With these wins, Afrobeats keeps proving that it’s not just a genre—it’s a global movement!
